There are options in working with me!

1:1 Nutrition and Lifestyle Coaching

We are all different, right? Absolutely.

Although there are basic truths around what the nutrition the body needs from a physiological perspective, each of us has a unique combination of genes, sex, age, environment, lived experience, health history, maybe prescription medicines, patterns of eating, sleeping, working and exercise, family commitments, likes and dislikes, etc. That is what makes us an individual.

And the best way to assess and address your individual needs is through working with you on a one to one basis. That enables me to give you implementable recommendations that are as unique as you are.

I start by taking a detailed life history, and by establishing what you want to achieve in working with me. Then I work with you over a minimum of 12 weeks to implement making changes in incremental steps. I know from experience that overloading you with a list of dos and don'ts will just result in overwhelm. Why a minimum of 12 weeks? That's the time it takes a) to embed new habits and b) in many cases to see meaningful change.

It gives me the opportunity to identify where your 'sticking points' are. By that I mean understanding where you find it challenging to incorporate different ways of doing things into your life, whether that's around fitting something into your day in a way that works for you, managing other people's response to the changes you are making (it's surprising how often those closest to us can actually put up obstacles!) or something specific to you that needs to be taken into account.

At the end of our time working together, you will have the tools you need to carry on with the changes you have made wherever you are and whatever you are doing.

Nutrition and Lifestyle Review

Not ready to commit to a 1:1 programme?

Book a 90 minute Nutrition and Lifestyle Review. I start by sending you a fairly lengthy questionnaire, to understand YOU. Then we go onto a zoom call, and get to understand where you are at now, and what you want to achieve. I will cover anything that stood out to me from your form, and answer your questions. You will take a way a number of implementable recommendations to put into place moving forwards.

This is for you if you want information, and action steps you can start taking now, but without the longer term commitment of 1:1 work.

Perimenopause

What if there is a different way to approach menopause?

What if, instead of fighting the inevitable, you were to find your flow through it?

What would change if you had the tools to nourish your body, find emotional balance and embrace change?

My 12 week group perimenopause programme is designed to empower you to embrace the menopause change

Did you know that in Eastern traditions, perimenopause is not recognised as a condition to be cured. It is approached as an imbalance in the body's energy systems, which results in negative experiences such as hot flashes, brain fog, poor sleep, aches and pains, and all those other things that modern science is only just beginning to understand are due to hormonal changes. Balancing our internal energy is beneficial to women of all ages, not just those who are stepping through the threshhold to their 'Second Spring'. This is a transition to the phase of life beyond the fertile years, it is about stepping into your power and wisdom for the most exciting third of life.

This unique 12 programme combines ancient wisdom from Traditional Chinese Medicine and Qi Gong with modern science, to take a body and mind approach to wellness. Wuxing Woman combines elements of Qi Gong practice for movement and breathwork, modern nutrition science to create a meal plan and the contemporary practices of guided mediation and journalling address both the physical and emotional aspects of perimenopause.

The full programme goes live in September. Join my mailing list to get priority booking at the early bird price of £247.

In the meeting time, I am running a mini-module as a standalone course. Focusing on energy levels and supporting the kidneys, the Water Element Intensive is short programme is a brief introduction to this new approach, and I am inviting you to take part at an introductory price of £47.

Come and join me in this taster course and learn some simple practices to set you on a journey towards consistent energy levels.

Why should you work with a nutritional therapist?

Wind my life back to 15 years ago ...

Hitting 40 was a big turning point for me. I started not feeling quite right: tired all the time, hungry all the time, thinking through fog, and experiencing debilitating bloating and abdominal cramps.  At first I put it down to being mother to two small children and running a business. I never seemed to have any energy, so I didn’t exercise beyond walking the dog. I wasn't sleeping properly, even when the kids did; I was tossing and turning and waking. My diet hadn’t changed but I was piling on weight. My clothes didn’t fit the way I wanted and I felt old an frumpy. My digestion was playing havoc, and I was plagued by bloating, abdominal pain and urgency for the loo. For the first time in my life I was experiencing anxiety – a feeling of constant impending doom.

An IBS diagnosis from my GP felt like a life sentence. I didn’t want to be taking medicines forever. It wasn’t even dealing with the symptoms I was experiencing particularly effectively. And I was getting fed up and frankly depressed with checking on the availability of toilets if I went anywhere new. Surely there must be some way to get my health back on track?

I decided to make my health my priority, so I started researching what was going on with my body.  Step by step, through a process of trial and error, I found that changing my diet and lifestyle made an immeasurable difference. I have more energy and mental clarity than I had fifteen years ago.  I am free of debilitating digestive symptoms.  And I can get my clothes out at every change of season fully confident that everything will fit me just as well as it did last year.

Now I have made it my mission to educate and empower women and men who are experiencing some or all of the things I did to reset their health for a vibrant and active midlife!

I know and understand the changes that take place within your body as you move into and through midlife and I understand the science to that informs how to support and repair your digestive system, rebalance your hormones and nourish your way body in the way it needs. I use my knowledge, experience and professional training so you can achieve this without the trial and error.

What is functional medicine?

The human body is a complex organism, in which each function: structure, circulation, respiration, digestion, communication, reproduction, and excretion are not separate but interlinked to work as a finely tuned whole.  If one part of the whole is not working as it should, it will impact on other parts.  The starting point for optimum health and performance is good nutrition.

My approach starts with establishing a way of eating which provides the energy and nutrients the body needs to perform at its best.  I listen to my clients to understand your individual preferences, lifestyle and goals.

Do you think that you might need some help with diet and nutrition, but you're not sure that working with me is right for you?
